How much can a fleet really cost?

Assessing how much a fleet vehicle will cost your organization goes a lot deeper than just looking at the sticker costs. Lifecycle costs can be summarized into two buckets―ownership costs and operations costs.

The upfront costs of purchasing a vehicle can include administrative procurement costs, such as the time to spec the vehicle, source the best options and finalize contracts. Ownership costs also include interest, inflation, disposal costs and the biggest single expense, depreciation.

The costs of operations represent about one-third of the total costs of ownership and include fuel, maintenance and incidental expenses.

Visit Kline Van and Specialty Rentals today to figure out how much your next fleet solution may cost you! Also, contact us here! We are standing by waiting to help you plan your next fleet purchase!

Optimizing Your Fleet For Your Money!

Are you utilizing your vehicles in the most efficient manner?  More importantly, how do you know you are?
A telematics solution can help answer these questions by providing detailed information about when, where, and how your vehicles are used. You can easily track trend data for trips taken, days utilized, average and peak use, and other fleet performance metrics. This easy-to-understand information helps you make informed decisions to improve vehicle utilization throughout your fleet.
For example, tracking vehicle usage on a daily, weekly or monthly basis can help identify which vehicles might be under- or over-utilized. Non-essential vehicles can be re-purposed in other areas or departments, and over-utilized vehicles can be scaled back to reduce wear and tear. You can also use customizable reports to track short- and long-term driving patterns to help improve fleet efficiency.
You can also receive odd-hours alerts, notifying you of unauthorized vehicle usage as it occurs. Monitoring inappropriate after-hours usage can help lower operational costs and extend the life of your vehicles.

KLINE - NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO OR WHAT YOU DO, WE CAN HELP GET YOU THERE!

Optimize Fleet Size

How do you determine the ideal size for your fleet? Again, GPS tracking can provide the data you need to make smart management decisions.
For example, large enterprise or public agency fleets often keep older and non-essential vehicles as backups, thereby creating a bigger fleet than necessary. With telematics, you can analyze average vehicle utilization by model and by year, revealing inefficient use of older vehicles and making them candidates for elimination.
You can also analyze maintenance issues by make and model - such as highest breakdown rates and repair costs - to determine which vehicles might be candidates for elimination or replacement. And you can identify which vehicles deliver the best fuel efficiencies, and phase out those with poor performance ratings.
Even if you don't need to downsize your fleet, you can still generate cost savings in lieu of getting rid of vehicles. Engine diagnostic alerts, online maintenance histories, and streamlined maintenance scheduling can extend the life of your vehicles and delay the cost of purchasing new ones. They also help reduce unexpected roadside breakdowns and the resulting costly repairs.

5 Tip To Help Your Fleet Today!

Fleet management is no straight forward task, yet there are a few small changes fleet operators can make that can return some big results. See the below top tips for running a more effective fleet, compiled by our team of fleet experts, and see if you can make a change for the better today.
  1. Stay in control of your data: It’s far too easy to lose control of the multiple streams of data that form the life blood of a fleet operation. From service and repairs scheduling to driver license checking, if the data is not centralized and easy to access and interpret, there’s little point having it in the first place
  2. Select the right tool for the job ...or more specifically, the right vehicle for the trip! It sounds simple but the continued allocation of inappropriate vehicles can quickly create unnecessary cost and CO2. Don’t send an eighteen wheeler when a hatch back will do!
  3. Know what you’re spending...and overspending: Operating a successful and cost effective fleet in today’s economic climate means keeping on top of your spending and identifying areas of waste in order to implement cost saving initiatives. This can be easier said than done if you’re relying upon spreadsheets instead of fleet management software to monitor your expenditure.
  4. Dot every I and cross every T: When it comes to compliance, the fleet management function is rife with legislation to adhere to. From duty of care to vehicle inspections, without an appropriate fleet program in place to provide alerts relating to pending compliance hazards and produce in depth reports at the click of a mouse, fleet operators risk the consequences of non compliance.
  5. Keep tabs on your carbon footprint: Being green isn’t just about saving the planet; it’s about cutting cost and increasing your appeal to customer and partner organizations too. Monitoring CO2 emissions and fuel consumption needn’t be a laborious task if a fleet management system is in place to do the leg work.
Kline Van and Specialty Rentals is here to help! We have access to so many vehicles and operations that we will get you exactly what you need! Start off on the Kline foot today!

Leasing VS. Employee Reimbrusement

It may make sense to let your employees choose and purchase the vehicles they want, and provide them with an allowance or reimburse them for mileage. Although reimbursement can save you the headaches of sourcing, managing and maintaining fleet vehicles, you cannot control the types of vehicles your employees drive.
Although it may seem cost-effective to reimburse your employees for their personal vehicle use on company time, a commercial lease for your company vehicles can be very cost effective.  Generally you would pay your employees between $500 and $1000 per month depending on your employee’s position. Or, you can reimburse based on mileage usage, directly paying your employees for the actual use of their vehicles for business.

When leasing, you are able to provide your employees with late-model, safe and well-maintained vehicles. You are able to reduce the liability that an employee may be involved in an accident while on company business, if you are able to ensure that they are driving a safe vehicle and covered with the proper insurance.
Reimbursement requires your employees to spend time and energy saving receipts and filling out reports, as well as maintaining their personal vehicles. When leasing for your employees, you are able to take those burdens off of them. When leasing, you are able to leave maintenance and other administrative headaches to your fleet management partner if you choose the right company.

Customer Service! The Kline Way!

It's Not About the Program - It's All About the People

Most fleet management companies sound alike…fleet management programs, vehicle acquisition, total cost of ownership, remarketing, benchmarking, maintenance programs, fuel programs, yada yada yada. What separates Kline Van and Specialty Rentals from our competitors is our people and our level of involvement with our customers.
We recently met with the President and the CFO at a prospective client. They were prepared to move forward with a competitive fleet management company based solely on a low interest rate. We requested the opportunity to meet with them since we came in late in their decision process. This meeting was to inform the client of the Kline difference and I am happy to report that they are now a new customer of ours.
Whether you are a current customer or future customer of Kline Van and Specialty Rentals, it’s essential for you to understand the value of our differentiation, what it means to you and your company, and our commitment to preserving these key fundamentals even as we continue to grow. Just what is this differentiation that you are either currently enjoying as a customer, or could be enjoying if you become our customer? Call Kline Van today! You can also simply request more information right here!
